Message from the Principal
Dear Deasy Students and Families,
We hope that you had an enjoyable and fun summer with your families. On behalf of myself, and the Deasy teachers and staff, we would like to say how excited we are to see you at Deasy on the first day of school! We know that this time is filled with excitement and anticipation. We are here to make the transition a smooth one.
We will be holding a Meet and Greet for Pre-K and Kindergarten students on Wednesday, August 31st from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. The purpose of this event is so students can visit their classrooms, meet their teacher and classmates and bring in their supplies before the start of the school year. We ask that each child is accompanied by only one adult in order to ensure adequate space.
The first day of school this year will be Tuesday, September 5th. Please note this is a half day and students will be dismissed at 12:10 p.m. Parents are allowed to accompany their child(ren) to the entrance of Deasy school, but not enter the building. Please say goodbye at the same location as your pick up at 3:30 p.m. This will be for the first day of school only. Every other day drop off is at the drop off line in the Deasy parking lot. This will keep our school safe and help all children make a better adjustment to school. We have an excellent support staff available to help your child with this transition, but if you are experiencing any difficulty, please do not hesitate to ask for assistance.
Regular school hours: 8:40 a.m. - 3:41 p.m.
Half-day school hours: 8:40 a.m. - 12:10 p.m.
Morning drop-off time is between 8:40 a.m. and 8:55 a.m. For the safety of all students, please do not arrive before 8:40 a.m., as there is no adult supervision until then. Staff will greet you and your child daily on the drop-off line located in the Dosoris Lane entrance.
Dismissal changes must be put in writing and/or called into the teacher and the main office no later than 2:00 p.m. that day. For the PM pick up, please arrive no later than 3:35 p.m. at your designated dismissal door. Please indicate who will be picking your child up each day.

As we continue our dedication to providing exceptional education to every student, we are excited to announce our district-wide instructional focus for this school year: active student engagement.
This entails empowering your student with more learning choices, encouraging more collaborative efforts with peers, and fostering increased opportunities for critical thinking.
➔ We highly value your partnership, as it plays a crucial role in ensuring your student's success. We warmly invite you to become an active collaborator with your child's teacher, fostering a strong and supportive educational journey together. You can follow school-wide events on Instagram (GCSD_Deasy), Twitter (@GCSD_Deasy), and Facebook (Glen Cove Deasy School). Additionally, we encourage you to use ParentSquare, as it is our district’s new messaging system. ParentSquare will replace the Glen Cove Schools app and will serve as the primary communication tool with your child’s teacher and as a means to receive important information regarding our school. Please click here for information about how to access ParentSquare.
➔ You can access important updates, staff emails, forms, and information regarding the PTA through our website.
➔ Please consider joining our Deasy School PTA, as this organization provides a great deal of support to our students and staff. Joining the PTA does not necessarily involve a time commitment. No contribution is too small and volunteers are always welcome and needed!
➔ Please do not hesitate to call the building if you have any questions or require assistance. Main office: (516) 801-7110.
I am looking forward to a year filled with making memories, learning and growing. Please don’t hesitate to contact me at any time.
