About Our School

Welcome

The Katherine A. Deasy Elementary School was founded in 1927 and originally named Central School. The school was renamed in honor of former principal Katherine A. Deasy. The Deasy School houses 320 students, in pre-kindergarten through second grade. Situated on four acres of land, the school is located between Dosoris Lane and Forest Avenue.

Katherine A. Deasy School is committed to supporting its students in academic, social and moral growth; fostering a lifelong commitment to learning; and encouraging responsible contributions to society. The school embraces the high standards of supportive families, conscientious learners, committed staff, and an involved community in order to maximize each student's potential for success.

Our School Song

At the corner of Dosoris and a street called Forest in a city called Glen Cove
We are the Deasy School
And we’re one big family
An amazing school
And we want the world to see
We’re peaceful and kind to everyone
That’s why learning is so much fun
We are the Deasy School
One big family
Do you share and use nice words?
Yes! Kindness is our way
And why are you responsible?
So we’re safe throughout the day
How do you treat those you meet
When they talk to you?
We look and listen; we’re on a mission
To be respectful, too
We are the Deasy School
And we’re one big family
An amazing school
And we want the world to see
Deasy is our friend, a mascot at school
Helping us learn that Golden Rule:
Treat others the way you want to be treated
That's what Deasy says
We’re peaceful and kind to everyone
That’s why learning is so much fun
We are the Deasy School
We are the Deasy School
We are the Deasy School
One big family
